happy new years!

posted by mommy and daddy

we celebrated new years with some good friends of ours. for the first time ever (and hopefully the last for quite a while!), owen actually stayed up until 11:30 playing with his friend. we ate some yummy korean food, played games and acted plain silly throughout the night. we are so blessed to have them in our lives and look forward to many more fun times together as our boys (we each have two) get older. each of us had our first boys 5 weeks apart, then in 2012, we had our second boys 6 weeks apart.

posted by mommy and daddy

while in albuquerque for christmas, we got to do quite a bit. everett got to experience the fun of christmas with grammie and gampa, mommy and daddy got a much needed date night, and owen rode on another train.

gampa had fun with everett...

...and everett enjoyed every minute of it

grammie enjoyed cuddling her newest grandson

owen loved the train ride to santa fe

of course he had to make sure his lovey had a good view

one of the few calm moments (it was past naptime!)

owen loved all of grammie's stuffed animals, especially big doggie

christmas in albuquerque

we spent christmas in albuquerque this year and had tons of fun. we got to wake up to grammie's sausage cheese balls, dig into our stockings, and see what fun gifts were left under the tree. owen was especially excited to open his gifts and even got to open a few of everett's as well.

nothing beats grammie's sausage cheese balls

mommy got to help owen with his stocking

daddy got to help everett with his

happy four month birthday everett!

posted by everett

there seems to be a trend with my monthly birthday pictures...they are always late! since i turned 4 months on christmas eve, we were in albuquerque so mommy and daddy couldn't take my picture in our usual chair. so a week later, we were finally able to take it.

owen, his bear, and a snack

posted by mommy

i have a funny story to tell. it's about owen. or rather, it involves owen. and his bear.

i usually tell owen to stay downstairs while i put everett in his pack 'n play for naptime. most of the time he ends up coming upstairs anyway...and making too much noise...and having a frustrated mommy tell him to go back downstairs. but the other day while i was putting everett down, i never heard owen stomping up the stairs. i walked out of the room and it was eerily quiet, both up and downstairs. when i walked into the kitchen, this is what i found: owen had put his bear in his chair, grabbed two clementines from the fridge (leaving both the fruit drawer and fridge door open), placed one clementine in front of the bear and proceeded to peel the other for himself. when he noticed me standing there, he smiled and said, "mommy, bear likes oranges."

unfortunately i didn't get a photo of it at the time (being side-tracked with this laugh-out-loud moment, as well as trying to decide whether i should take the opportunity to teach about leaving fridge doors open!). so we decided to prompt a semi-staged recreation last night, asking owen if he thought maybe his bear might want an orange. the result was the same...except we made him close the fridge this time.

the bear has his very own clementine

wearing my favorite bear

posted by owen

i've recently enjoyed playing with my bear. i love to talk to him, put diapers on him, help him go potty, wash his hands and even eat meals with him. i often see both mommy and daddy wearing everett so i thought to myself, why not wear my bear. so mommy helped me out.

is my belly suppose to stick out like this?
