posted by mommy and daddy

we all had a wonderful easter. owen walked around saying "Jesus is alive". amen to that. we went to church to celebrate and then we came home to a cookout and easter baskets. both owen and everett enjoyed being outside in the awesome weather and especially enjoyed going through the things in their basket.

both seemed to have the same expression

we had a visit from the easter bunny during lunch

extra time needed

posted by mommy and daddy

thank goodness our church added a middle service. with two boys to get ready, we sure enjoy the extra time. mommy did a great job of dressing the boy in matching colors. this morning, owen and everett were playing around as we all got ready for church. as expected, we were late.

everett's seven month update

posted by mommy
  1. food - due to ev's recent battle with a terrible cold (thanks to momma) he took a break from eating any solids in favor of nursing a lot more. so we haven't tried anything new or made much progress in this area. he has finally begun feeling better in the last couple days so we're reintroducing solids all over again. currently his favorite food is butternut squash and he isn't a fan at all of anything to runny or of cereals.
  2. growth - ev is definitely starting to slow down his growth, especially since he wasn't feeling well and therefore not eating much. but we are still in love with his chunk-a-munk rolls!
  3. development - he is now fully sitting up unassisted, although continues to be a little wobbly and does fall over from time to time. still no signs of crawling but continues to do push-ups. both bottom middle teeth are fully in (and sharp little suckers!), but no more as of yet.
  4. sleeping - the dependable routine we thought we were developing as of the last update was completely messed up during his cold (so much so that we even spent a couple nights sitting in the rocking chair with him so he could sleep upright). in the last week he's settled back down a bit to waking twice a night. but the big news is that tuesday night, ev slept all night long...7:30pm to 7am! oh what a feeling to have an entire night of uninterrupted sleep - hasn't happened for me since before ev was born. last night was similar but he awoke at 5am, nursed, and went back to sleep til 8! i'll take it. naps seem to be falling into more of a routine as well and he is dropping his evening catnap. he typically take an hour to hour-and-a-half morning nap at 10am and then an afternoon nap around 1:30 and sleeps til 3:30 or 4. way better than o was napping at this age!
  5. overall demeanor - fussy has been the word of the day for the last couple weeks. and who can blame him. he has lots of congestion and a yucky cough. between steam rooms, saline drops, nasal suctioning, eucalyptus rubs, and homeopathic cough syrup, little man's being put through the ringer every day. but each day's getting a little better.
  6. favorite things - ev still chews on everything. if he can't put it in his mouth he has no use for it. just like his brother, sophie has become his favorite thing, closely followed by his vanilla teething rings. he also loves his nightly airtime where he gets to play on the floor unencumbered by clothes or diaper.

fun video clips

posted by mommy and daddy

we haven't posted many video's of everett so we decided to make one with several clips so everyone can see what he's been up to the past few months.

almost on the move

i'm trying my hardest, but i haven't quite got the hang of moving forward. i do push-ups and arch for things, but i guess i don't see anything that interests me enough to go after it. i've been told that a cell phone always worked for my brother, but i don't see the appeal. someday.

recovering nicely

i've been sick with a cold lately and i'm now starting to get better so my appetite is coming back. mommy decided to try out a slice of pear with me and it was a hit.

a special gift

posted by mommy

yesterday was my birthday. it didn't turn out exactly the way we had planned. james was going to take me and the boys out to lunch where we could sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. instead, we spent the day indoors, tired and sick. what started as a day with promise ended in the ER. that's right, we had our first visit as parents to the ER. and it wasn't o, our crazy rambunctious 2-year-old, that put us there. it was everett. our very sick little one. unfortunately, earlier this week i passed on my very yucky cold to him and it got bad enough that our pediatrician felt we needed to take him in last night to be seen and heard. fortunately for us, God was watching out for him and all his symptoms really are just a horrible cold - rapid breathing, wet mucousy cough, and congestion so severe that he's lost what little voice he even has due to post-nasal drip (seriously, like kim carnes in infant form!). poor little man. i cried for him. and held him. and his daddy slept with him in the chair. again. so sad.

on a much brighter note, though, my three favorite guys did surprise me with an awesome, amazingly heartfelt, and total keepsake of a gift, and i wanted to share it with you. a downer of a birthday with a huge blessing in the middle.
