we drove to albuquerque for our annual trip to balloon fiesta. we decided not to go on friday as we thought the forecasted weather would prevent the balloons from flying, but it turned out to be one of the best days. fortunately, many still flew on saturday so we watched and gawked as they all lifted off from the field. we left the house at 5:30 am in order to make it to the field before the balloons lifted off. after over an hour in traffic and lines, we were finally able to enjoy yummy breakfast burritos, neat gift shops, a funnel cake and of course all the colorful balloons made for a wonderful morning (totally worth the exhaustion!). we even finished the day off by helping one team pack up their balloon since clouds had moved in and rain was on the way.
